Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence "Resilient and transforming Europe" 2023-2026

Pursuant to a decision of the European Commission, the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence “Resilient and transforming Europe” (Transform EU) has been established at the Poznań University of Economics. The Center of Excellence was established within the framework of a project that is co-financed by the ERASMUS+ program. The project will be implemented by the staff of the Department of European Studies in cooperation with the Department of Information Technology from 2023 to 2026.

The Jean Monnet Center of Excellence aims to provide the public with a deeper understanding of the challenges of environmental and digital transformation in the European Union. The specific objectives of the project include: promoting excellence in teaching and research in the field of sustainable development in Europe, fostering dialogue on the topic between academia and society, providing evidence-based knowledge for decision-makers, and spreading knowledge about the EU and its development to the public.

The project covers three main pillars: green and digital transformation, a resilient society, and the EU's role in the world. The initiative targets, among others, academics, students, graduates, students and teachers of secondary schools, representatives of local and regional administrations, EU and regional decision-makers, as well as NGO staff and business practitioners. It is expected that about 640 people will benefit from the results of the project.

Among other things, the project plans to publish a scientific monograph, publish scientific articles, organize a conference on the 20th anniversary of Poland's membership in the EU, as well as thematic seminars, open lectures for students, lessons for young people, lectures for senior citizens, and workshops for teachers.

The university's project coordinator is PUEB Professor Ida Musiałkowska, and the project manager is Dr. Judyta Cabańska.

Jean Monnet Centers of Excellence are selected through competitions announced by the European Commission as part of the Erasmus+ program. This is a prestigious EU grant aimed at undertaking extensive research and teaching activities devoted to the European Union. In this year's competition, 27 projects from all over the world and only one from Poland were selected for implementation.

The Jean Monnet Center of Excellence “Resilient and transforming Europe” is another project (after, among others, the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence implemented in 2012-2015) co-financed by the European Commission, which is implemented by the Department of European Studies, confirming the quality of the Department's activities and its position among centers specializing in the issues of EU integration and functioning.
