The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence project “Digital Skills for the Twin Transition in the EU” – TRANS-DIGITAL-EU will be implemented at Poznań University of Economics and Business (PUEB) by the Department of European Studies and the Department of Information Technology from 2026 to 2029. The project is co-funded under the Jean Monnet Actions, which are currently part of the Erasmus+ Programme.
✅ The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “Digital Skills for the Twin Transition in the EU” – TRANS-DIGITAL-EU aims to deepen the understanding of how digital skills support Europe's digital and green transitions.
✅ In response to growing concerns about shortages of digital expertise, uneven digitalisation, varying levels of business readiness, and the risk of digital exclusion among vulnerable groups, the project emphasises human capital as a key enabler of the EU's twin transition. By combining research, education, multi-stakeholder dialogue, and policy engagement, the Centre advances evidence-based knowledge, enhances the societal relevance of EU-related insights, and promotes teaching excellence and the visibility of European studies across European academic and policy networks.
✅ The project provides insights into digital skills gaps that are critical to achieving the twin transition and explores organisational challenges associated with adopting digital and AI-based technologies. It advocates a fair and inclusive digital transition, with particular attention to groups at risk of exclusion, including older people, migrants, and workers affected by technological change. The Centre promotes teaching and research on digital skills and responsible artificial intelligence, while fostering dialogue among academia, policymakers, and society to support evidence-based decision-making and raise awareness of EU priorities.
✅ The project's implementation is structured around several work packages: research into digital skills gaps; the digital transformation of enterprises; groups particularly vulnerable to digital exclusion; educational pathways from youth to employment; dissemination of results and societal impact; and policy engagement. A wide range of stakeholders will be involved in these activities. The Centre will help build a more digitally skilled and resilient European society, capable of participating inclusively in an AI-driven and climate-neutral future.
✅ The project is coordinated at PUEB by Professor Ida Musiałkowska, with Professor Piotr Idczak serving as Project Manager.
