The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the Department of European Studies of the Poznań University of Economics was established by a decision of the European Commission for the years 2012-2015. This distinction, which is a recognition of the quality of education and research conducted by the Department's staff, is extremely prestigious – the Centre of Excellence established at the Department of European Studies at the Poznań University of Economics is one of 12 centres established by decision of the European Commission in 2012 throughout the European Union.
The Centre is headed by Prof. Bohdan Gruchman, PhD, full professor at the Poznań University of Economics and Business, who is a member of the European Jean Monnet Professors' Group. Dr Grzegorz Mazur is the coordinator of the project, which will run from October 2012 to August 2015.
The task of the Centre is to promote knowledge and research in the field of European integration. As part of the project, a series of publications on European integration will be prepared. The Centre will also be responsible for organising, among other things, a scientific conference summarising 10 years of Poland's membership in the European Union, as well as conducting ' European lessons' for secondary school students and students of the Erga omnes Open Economic University operating at the University of Economics in Poznań.
